Ngoma District is good in cattle keeping and cultivation of banana, cassava, and beans. According to MINAGRI Crop Assessment Report 2008A Season Ngama District was classified amongst the district with adequate food security. Although, there has been problems of crop pests and diseases like banana wilt that have been affecting the production, measures have been put in place to curb the scorge e.g. providing farmers with a better variety. The district has been encouraging farmers to use fertiliser because most of the soils in the district have been overexploited and there is little soil fertility remaining. The district is also doing all it can to provide farmers with insectcides in order to fight the pests and diseases that affect the crops in the district. There has been a campaign of digging radical terraces on the slopes of hills in order to fight soil erosion that would hamper the agricultural sector. The district have been using the TIGsts and the community work exercise to make these terraces that have now covered a very big area.
